Weekend Menswear with Paul Anthony Kelly & Colman Domingo

Here is a look at some of the menswear looks from this weekend, with Paul Anthony Kelly and Colman Domingo offering two different approaches to off-duty dressing.

Out In New York
I like to pigeonhole some celebrities: Chanel girl, Saint Laurent guy. But Paul Anthony Kelly isn’t a one-label kind of guy. His style sits firmly in the easy, classic elegance camp, which is why he rotates so seamlessly between Brunello Cucinelli, Loro Piana, Ralph Lauren and, now, Falconeri.
For his latest outing in New York, the actor wore a Falconeri look with brown Tod’s Winter Gommino ankle boots, and the colour palette is what immediately sold this to me.
The olive-green T-shirt and brown boots have one foot in autumn, while the lighter jacket and white trousers are still holding on to summer. Together, they create a beautifully coordinated transitional look that feels luxurious without relying on a suit to get there.
Paul has quickly become one of the men I look forward to seeing, so I’m particularly interested to see what he has planned for the Emmys red carpet.

Out In LA
We are used to seeing Colman Domingo dressed to the nines and looking incredibly dapper, but he can have his casual days too.
Out in Los Angeles, the actor opted for a colour-coordinated cream sweatshirt and relaxed-fit utility trousers. Yes, the trousers are slightly crumpled, but who isn’t looking a little crumpled and relaxed on the weekend?
It’s the accessories that really make this interesting. His honey-hued Jacques Marie Mage Fellini sunglasses, inspired by Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini, add a hit of colour, while he also debuted the new Valentino Garavani Stud Up sneakers by Alessandro Michele.
We’ve already seen how popular Valentino’s reissued Rockstud shoes have been with the women, so I’m curious to see whether the Stud Up sneakers will have the same impact in menswear. I’m willing to bet this won’t be the last time we see them.
