Medik8 serum hailed ‘excellent for mature skin’ cut to lower price

Shoppers are rushing to buy a popular serum that they say is ‘excellent for mature skin’ – and it’s currently discounted. Medik8 is currently holding a 20% off event, which ends on Saturday August 1.
Included in the sale is the Hydr8 B5 Intense product, which is described as a ‘supercharged multi-weight hyaluronic acid serum with NMF’. It is priced at £48, down from £60, in the 30ml full size bottle, but there’s also an 8ml travel size option available for £20 without a discount.
The serum claims to replenish and recharge the skin’s natural moisture levels for ‘clinically proven smoothing and plumping results’ in 24 hours. The site says it has been expertly formulated as a supercharged version of the bestselling Hydr8 B5, and it is a silky-soft, non-sticky serum which has been fortified with superfood antioxidants and Natural Moisturising Factors (NMFs).
Key benefits, according to the site, include skin hydration, plumping and firming, and restoration of skin volume. Those who have not used it before should do a patch test at least 24 hours beforehand, but for others, they should massage six drops of Hydr8 B5 Intense across the face, neck and décolletage after cleansing in the morning and evening. Then, it should be left to absorb before applying moisturiser.
As an alternative, shoppers could grab The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydrating Serum (30ml) from Boots for £8.80. This is described as a next-generation hyaluronic acid serum that gives an instant plumping effect and long-lasting, multi-layer hydration.
Or at LookFantastic, there’s the La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Suractivated Serum (30ml) for £36, down from £45. This is a hydrating serum enriched with four forms of hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 for ‘long-lasting moisture and plumpness’, the site says.
The Hydr8 B5 Intense from Medik8 has been rated highly by shoppers, however. One person said: “I have used this for a while and bought one for my daughter for Christmas. Excellent for mature skin.”
Another shopper added: “This is one of my favourite products in my daily routine. Intensely hydrating and noticeably plumping.”
While a third added: “Beautiful formula and great results. My skin looks smoother and more refreshed.”
Others deducted stars from their reviews, with one writing: “Nice to use, although I’m not totally sold. I find it pills, so maybe I’m using too much? I’ll keep giving it a go and see how I feel at the end of this bottle.”
Someone else commented: “This is a nicely hydrating serum, but it feels very similar (if not less hydrating) to the previous Hydr8 serum they discontinued. This one is more expensive, too!”
