Jodie Turner-Smith Goes Romantic in Custom Louis Vuitton

Jodie Turner-Smith joined Sandra Hüller on the red carpet this evening for the global premiere of Digger at Leicester Square Gardens in London.

The actress was dressed in a custom Louis Vuitton rust-pink gown, and I had to sit with this one for a bit.

Initially, my issue was the combination of the high neckline and voluminous sleeves. Was this too safe, too strict for Jodie? This is a woman who has always had a fearless approach to the red carpet, so my first impression was that something was missing.

But then I saw the gown from the back, and my opinion started to change. The open-back design, held together with delicate ties, completely shifts the mood of the dress and provides a striking contrast to the more covered front.

There’s an old-world charm to this look that I didn’t appreciate immediately, and considering this was the Royal Film Performance, with the Prince and Princess of Wales in attendance, the formality of the gown suddenly feels especially apt for the occasion.

This is exactly why I sometimes need to take a look in from every angle before forming an opinion.

A simple updo and Mikimoto jewellery completed her look.

One thing I never had any doubts about? The face card. With Jodie, there never is.
