Penélope Cruz Tries Something New in Christian Cowan at TIFF

Following the TIFF Tribute Awards, Penélope Cruz attended the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Bunker, which first debuted at the Venice Film Festival.

After her last three Chanel looks, Penélope turned to fellow Spaniard Christian Cowan for a custom look.
Inspired by the designer’s Spring 2027 collection, I, for one, am glad to see a more sultry side of Penélope come out to play. Between the leather bustier and black lace skirt, we are getting to see something new from her style-wise, and as much as I loved all of her recent Chanel outings, I welcome the change.

I’m usually not a big fan of jackets tempering a look, but I honestly don’t mind the cropped jacket here. In fact, I think it is what pulls the look together. Perhaps it’s because the shorter length still allows the bustier and lace skirt to have their moment, rather than covering up what makes the look interesting in the first place.
It is unexpected for Penélope, and that is precisely why I am enjoying it.
