There’s So Much More to Aryna Sabalenka’s Style Than Tennis Sets and Insane Jewels

Most people associate Aryna Sabalenka’s style with the eye-catching statement jewelry she wears on the tennis court. How could you not when the two-time defending US Open champion has been tearing through this year’s Grand Slam in a custom 18k-gold and multicolor prism necklace crafted specifically for this moment? You know, the one made up of 83 carats worth of sapphire, tourmaline, garnet, zircon, spinel, chrysoberyl, and tanzanite?

“For this US Open, we wanted something really bold and colorful,” the tournament finalist tells Glamour of the Material Good pieces she’s been wearing on and off the court. “The Nike kit has that basketball-inspired energy, and we wanted the jewelry to have the same feeling: something fun, playful and very New York.”

“For me, jewelry is part of getting ready to play,” Sabalenka says. “If I feel good and I like how I look, I feel more confident going onto the court. So I take it seriously, but I also have a lot of fun with it.”

So yeah, Sabalenka is queen of the court when it comes to statement jewelry—and you know, actual tennis—but there’s so much more to her style than that. Outside of epic action shots, Sabalenka’s Instagram feed is a treasure trove of classic designer staples she pairs with fun trendy pieces on her time off. “I love mixing sporty pieces with something more feminine or glamorous,” she says. “I think that balance is very much my style.”

When asked to serve up her perfect outfit combo for We Like Her Look, the 28-year-old tennis star basically described a Gucci look she recently wore twice in NYC: her Seamless Stretch Nylon Jersey Stirrup Pants, with her go-to Donna pumps and Horsebit Duomo bag. She’s styled the combination in two very different ways: first with a cropped white top and more recently with an unexpected graphic tee.

“I recently wore this Nike Sportswear Chill Knit tee when I visited the Dobel Tequila suite at the US Open to mix up my Sabalenka Smash Margarita,” she says. “I loved the cropped shape and the graphic. It’s comfortable but still feels fun and cool.”
